Amazon has come up with a potential solution to allow bad players to disrupt each other’s multiplayer games by making them confront each other. Protocol has found a new patent application that details a system proposed by Amazon technologies that allows “perception of player selection from the behavior of multiplayer video games.”. The application was originally filed in December 2017, but appears to have been approved by the U.S. patent and trademark office last month. < / P > < p > the patent document points out that traditional matching systems often focus on grouping players according to their ability level, but it is recommended that you also consider other factors. < / P > < p > “although players may be happy to play with the same level of players, such a system naively believes that the level of ability is a measure of player’s enjoyment.” < / P > < p > “contrary to this assumption, players’ enjoyment may depend largely on the behavior of other users they are paired with, such as the tendency of other players to use blasphemy or engage in other undesirable behaviors. Players who engage in such behavior may be marked as “bad” by other players. One mechanism for dealing with such players is to isolate all “bad” players into a separate player pool, so that one bad player can only match other bad players. ” < / P > < p > the document acknowledges that it is difficult to define “bad” clearly and that classifying players as “bad” or “non bad” ignores other important differences in player preferences. < / P > < p > for example, some players may not care much about swearing, but they are very unhappy with the players who quit the game midway; some players don’t care much about quitting, but can’t tolerate swearing. Whether Amazon can implement it remains to be seen. Earlier, the company announced that it had shut down its first major online game, furnace, just five months after its launch. < / P > < p > Amazon is currently working with Athlon games, the distribution label of China Leyou Technology Co., Ltd., on the large multiplayer online game Lord of the rings.
