On October 15, Shanghai – J.D. Power, the world’s leading consumer insight and market research organization, officially released the 2020 China new car quality research SM (IQS). The research shows that the image of independent brands has been continuously improved in the past five years. More and more Chinese consumers buy their own brands because of their good quality or performance. The upward strategy of independent brands has achieved positive results. < / P > < p > in IQs, this paper focuses on the quality problems encountered by new car owners with car ownership period of 2 to 6 months. The new car quality score is expressed in the average number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The lower the score, the better the quality. The research also finds that there is still a gap between the independent brand and the industry average level. Among the five car lines, only the quality performance of its own brand (135 PP100) lags behind the industry average level (127 PP100). However, the quality gap between independent brands is also large. Although a few leading enterprises have reached the same quality level as international brands, there are still some independent brands, which are still in a relatively backward position. < / P > < p > Porsche (107 PP100) won the first place in the quality of new cars in the luxury car segment. Audi (116 P100) and Lexus (117 PP100) ranked second and third in terms of new vehicle quality in the luxury car segment. < p > < p > GAC Honda (115 PP100) won the first place in new car quality in mainstream car segment market. GAC Feike Jeep (118 PP100) ranked second, Beijing Hyundai and Changan Ford (119 PP100) tied for third place. GAC motor (125 PP100) won the first place in China’s independent brand for the eighth consecutive year. In the other findings of the study, the problems of poor design accounted for the majority, and the quality gap between mainstream cars and luxury cars was further narrowed. In addition, the problems of interior odor and tire noise ranked the top two of the top 20 problems in the industry. < / P > < p > in the top 20 problems that consumers complained most in 2020, the problems of odor and fuel consumption in the car were improved, but the complaints of tire noise, engine noise and noise increased. < / P > < p > 8 of the 20 problems are new problems, of which 6 are poor performance problems, such as insufficient engine power, slow charging of power socket / USB interface and front wiper not cleaning the windshield. < / P > < p > it is understood that the 2020 IQs is based on the real feedback of 32536 car owners who purchased cars between June 2019 and June 2020. < / P > < p > the study covered 241 models of 57 brands, and the data collection was conducted in 70 major cities of China from December 2019 to August 2020.
