The purity of hydrogen used in by-product fuel cell is 99.99% higher than that of the national fuel cell plant for the first time. < p > < p > however, the primary problem in promoting hydrogen fuel vehicles in China is the production, storage and filling of hydrogen. At present, the production cost of hydrogen is too high, which is also a bottleneck of hydrogen fuel cell industry. As a common by-product in oil refining, chemical industry and other industries, by-product hydrogen has the advantages of low cost and rich resources. < p > < p > in order to further reduce costs and promote the development of hydrogen energy industry, Dalian (Fushun) Petrochemical Research Institute, Guangzhou (Luoyang) engineering company and Gaoqiao Petrochemical, affiliated to Sinopec, formed a joint research team. < p > < p > a complete set of high-quality hydrogen production technology for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles was developed with low-cost by-product hydrogen as raw material, and the industrial demonstration was successfully realized. The by-product hydrogen with purity of about 90% was purified to 99.999% at one time. < p > < p > the first demonstration unit was successfully applied in Gaoqiao Petrochemical Company. The operation results show the advantages of less investment, small land occupation and low energy consumption, which will effectively reduce the cost of hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles. It is understood that Sinopec’s hydrogen production in 2019 will exceed 3 million tons, accounting for about 14% of China’s hydrogen production.
