American scientists used the summit supercomputing of Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the summer to analyze more than 40000 gene data from 17000 gene samples in an effort to deepen the understanding of covid-19. Summit, the world’s second fastest supercomputer, spent more than a week processing the data. The < / P > < p > hypothesis provides a model to explain many aspects of covid-19, including the most peculiar symptoms. It also proposes more than a dozen potential therapies, some of which have been approved by the FDA. The findings were published in the Journal eLife. According to this study, the infection of covid-19 usually enters the human body from the ACE2 receptor in the nose, and then enters other tissues with a large number of ACE2 receptors in the body, such as the intestine, kidney and heart. This can partly explain the heart and gastrointestinal symptoms of the new crown. Once covid-19 gets a foothold in the human body, things start to get interesting. The data from summit analysis showed that covid-19 was no longer satisfied with simply infecting cells that already expressed a large number of ACE2 receptors. It began to hijack the human body’s own system and deceive it to increase ACE2 receptor expression in tissues with low or medium levels, such as the lung. The renin angiotensin system (RAS) controls many aspects of the circulatory system, including levels of compounds called bradykinin. Bradykinins help regulate blood pressure. When covid-19 fine tune RAS system, the mechanism of bradykinin regulation will be confused. The bradykinin receptor sensitizes again, and the human body stops effectively decomposing bradykinin. The end result, the researchers say, is a storm of bradykinin – a runaway accumulation of bradykinin in the body. According to the bradykinin hypothesis, it is it that leads to many fatal results. The FDA has approved a variety of drugs for the RAS system that are suspected to reduce bradykinin production and prevent the deadly bradykinin storm. The researchers also pointed out that vitamin D may be a potential therapeutic drug to help prevent the formation of bradykinin storms.
