Virgin orbit, a small satellite launch company, is seeking to raise more money as it hopes to prepare for targeting the industry. According to the Wall Street Journal, the long beach, California based space launch orbiter hopes to raise up to $200 million in private financing. If successful, the financing will raise the total market value of the start-up to $1 billion. It will also enable it to start launching payloads similar to NASA’s upcoming mission to put 10 small satellites into orbit. < / P > < p > compared with SpaceX’s medium lift Falcon 9 launch vehicle lineup, virgin orbit, firefly aerospace, planetlabs and vector launch intend to launch smaller and lighter payloads into orbit. Their launch vehicles for this purpose are similar in size to the Falcon 1 rocket of the Hawthorne based company, which was first launched four years after SpaceX was incorporated. < / P > < p > however, unlike Falcon 1, virgin rail’s & quot; launcher one & quot; launch vehicle does not use its engine for lift off. Instead, it was launched by a modified Boeing 747, known as the cosmological girl. This deployment is similar to that used by Virgin galaxy, virgin rail’s sister company, which brings cargo, crew and passengers to the “Carmen line.”. Virgin rail initially planned to launch the & quot; launcherone & quot; from & quot; spaceship two & quot; but later abandoned it due to the mature design of the rocket. < / P > < p > NASA’s 10 small satellites will be the first payload launch of launcherone, and virgin orbit has a longer schedule for the mission. The company’s request to the FCC for the use of S-band transceivers on aircraft requires a six-month window to be opened in September. < / P > < p > If virgin completes this capital operation and reaches a valuation of $1 billion, it will be about half of the funds SpaceX recently raised. Elon Musk’s Unicorn rocket venture completed its biggest round of financing so far in August. As a result, the company sold all of its $2bn stake, and the funding generated in this round is almost twice as much as SpaceX’s previous offering of this kind in 2015. < / P > < p > once virgin orbit starts launching with launcherone, it will be able to launch small satellites with multiple functions. These capabilities range from imaging to Internet communications – the latter market has experienced new competition since SpaceX launched Starlink on a regular basis. < / P > < p > in addition to Starlink, Kuiper, which is supported by Jeff Bezos, and oneweb, the UK, both have active plans to launch small satellites to provide Internet connectivity. Kuiper should be launching its spacecraft on blue origin’s launch vehicle, while oneweb has already used SpaceX’s Falcon 9 medium launch vehicle for launch missions. < / P > < p > prior to virgin orbit’s spin off in 2017, its predecessor, virgin galaxy, and oneweb signed an agreement in 2015 to launch satellites from Internet providers. The agreement covers 39 launches on launcherone and has an option to allow up to 100 more launches. Oneweb has launched 68 operational satellites so far, far behind SpaceX’s Starlink constellation.
